Williams Commerce supported English Woodlands in their migration from Magento 1 to Magento 2. Read the latest Williams Commerce case study to find out more.
Who said you needed to leave your house to experience everything nature has to offer? English Woodlands holds one of the biggest selections of trees in the South East, and stocks a large number of trees, conifers and shrubs available to purchase all year round to spruce up your garden.
Being a leading company in their industry means that their website also had to be at the top of its game, optimising the website so that it provided a smooth user experience for customers was an absolute necessity.
Previously running their ecommerce website on Magento 1, they had to decide what course of action to take once the Magento 1 end of life arrived. English Woodlands reached the decision to migrate to Magento 2, and when they asked Williams Commerce to help them achieve this transition, we naturally accepted.
Our team of experts carried out the migration of the English Woodlands website from Magento 1 to Magento 2 Open Source.
We made changes so that the online catalogue could be requested by form, and also upgraded the search feature so that the administrator has more control over the configuration and refinement of product search.
A filter upgrade was added so more attributes and features became available to optimise, much more than Magento Core allows.
English Woodlands always had a VAT toggle on their website so both B2C and B2B customers could view the pricing that was applicable to them, but we took this further.
We added a delivery extension with custom amendments to make sure that each product had an attached identifier which specified what type of delivery was required. As you can imagine, a little sachet of seeds doesn’t need the same delivery and packing treatment that a mature 6-foot tree.
We also merged their blog into Magento, which has been previously ran on WordPress, for easier administrative management and stronger security.
We carried out a full ERP (Encore) integration with a connector from Anagram Systems. This fantastic connector linked with Magento Rest API, which opened up a set of functions that a developer could use to perform requests related to customers, categories, products, stock, pricing, orders and even more.
