Adobe Commerce 2.4.4 to 2.4.7 updates and looking ahead to version 2.4.8

The vision for Adobe Commerce is to deliver an experience-led, data-powered and technology-enabled platform to meet modern needs. This includes creating faster ecommerce sites and improving tools to deliver personalised experiences at scale.

Adobe product upgrades and patches provide simple and predictable ways to make improvements and add new features. New functionality is available sooner and users benefit from simplified data sharing and reduced costs for integrations and customisations.

Patches for Adobe Commerce were delivered in August 2024, and we expect further security patches and enhancements from October. Adobe Commerce 2.4.8 is due for release in April 2025 with extra features, cloud infrastructure improvements and new developer tools.

Here’s what we know about the latest releases and what’s planned over the next few months.

The latest security patches

Adobe release individual patches to provide security, performance, compliance, and high-priority quality improvements. Security patch releases keep your site secure without the extra quality fixes and enhancements included in a full patch release.

The patches released in August provided security fixes and enhancements for Adobe Commerce versions 2.4.4 to 2.4.7. These include a backwards compatible software code change to fix a security issue and a software improvement for internal security. Extended security-only patches were also announced for versions. 2.3.7 to 2.4.3.

AR Viewer

Previously presented at the Adobe Summit, AR Viewer is now available on the Adobe Commerce Marketplace. Simply scanning a QR code via mobile devices delivers augmented reality (AR) shopping and buying experiences. All you need to do is upload 3D models of your product.

The next security patches and Beta patch releases

In October this year and February 2025, we expect further security patches for versions 2.4.4 to 2.4.7.

Adobe Commerce customers and partners will also receive Beta patches for the next Adobe Commerce release (2.4.8) before general availability. This provides extra time to review the code and affected components.

Along with security fixes, Beta patches improve performance and quality and can include community contributions and extra compatibility support.

Adobe Commerce version 2.4.8

Further security patches and the next release of Adobe Commerce (2.4.8) are due in April 2025. We expect:

New features and functionality

We anticipate extensions for business to business (B2B) features along with other fixes and improvements. Compatibility is expected for Adobe Commerce 2.4.4 onwards. The updates will include:

  • Enhancements for Catalog Management to improve gated shared catalogues with custom pricing for registered customers.
  • Live Search improvements with AI-powered sorting and ranking for search results to help site visitors easily find what they want.
  • Better in-depth analysis of visitor data to enhance customer experiences using Product Recommendations powered by Adobe Sensei. Real-time catalogue indexing will handle up to 10,000 updates per second. This will make a real difference if you have large catalogues or make frequent pricing changes, for example.

Cloud infrastructure

We also expect new features and enhancements to the cloud infrastructure for Adobe Commerce and the Cloud Tools Suite. These should improve building, deploying, managing and integrating all Adobe Commerce versions in the cloud environment.

Extensibility

New developer tools and services will make it easier to extend functionality to support business growth. Enhanced extensibility of Adobe Commerce core software independently of patch releases gives you more control over timing, coding, and implementation. You can simplify upgrades, improve efficiency and flexibility, and reduce your total cost of ownership.
