Sarsen Stone Group is a family-run business, passionate about sourcing the best natural stone and tiles from around the world. Over the last 30 years, Sarsen Stone Group has set out to become the most sought-after stone and tile company in the UK. Their heritage and story embody a strong, stable and confident business that still has the same owners from the very beginning of their journey.

The Challenge

Sarsen Stone Group’s previous digital setup was not equipped for modern business. The inventory was complex, and the site’s technology was outdated.

To enhance its digital presence, Sarsen Stone Group wanted a centralised ecommerce platform that would enable the business to launch several multi-sites, for each of their brands, from a single infrastructure.

The design and UX of these sites needed to align with the overarching positioning of the business and brand principles while also maintaining their own unique identity to stand out as an individual brand.

The Solution

As with all our website build projects, we began with a deep-dive discovery. This focussed on the need to deliver a new infrastructure to allow multiple storefronts to run from one solution. To achieve this, we opted for Adobe Commerce due to its flexibility with customisation.

The scope was defined as two multi-sites to be launched independently with centralised integrations to NetSuite and HubSpot.

During the discovery, we placed Sarsen Stone Group’s customers at the heart of the process. We looked at the ideal customer journey and where we could add value to the end user.

Our UX & UI design team ran multiple workshops to review data, conduct interviews and benchmark competitor sites.

The outputs enabled us to identify key elements of functionality that could have been missed if we had only focussed on the sale of products. These included sections on how the business worked, the ability to book a consultation, find a showroom, request a brochure and to view square metre calculations when browsing products. Since these elements enhance the user journey and help users make informed decisions, we ensured they were factored into the build.

We focused on delivering a core build for the Artisans of Devizes brand. This involved various integrations which relied upon the skills of our integration and data team.

Our team integrated NetSuite for master product and stock information, HubSpot to manage customer relationships and Trustpilot to strengthen Sarsen Stone Group’s already strong brand reputation with real life reviews to validate their customer service.

We also focussed on the look and feel of the website that would strike the balance between the Sarsen Stone Group and Artisans of Devizes. For consistency, we agreed on a design layout and template that could be implemented across all sites.

The site now encapsulates the brand’s commitment to high-quality in both products and customer service.

Results

Ongoing enhancements

With a commitment to continuous optimisation and growth, our team added Where to Buy functionality on the Ca’ Pietra site.

We also implemented a new layout from the Sarsen Stone Group’s design team for this page, adding tiers for the different retailer partner levels Ca’ Pietra has.

In addition to this, we have also added a new payment gateway on the Ca’ Pietra & Artisans of Devizes websites. The previous gateway experienced challenges with 2FA leading to issues with card payments. Given the urgency of this issue, we delivered a new solution quickly and efficiently.

Our team presented different payment options showcasing other modules that we use with clients and the respective benefits. Sarsen Stone Group selected Stripe, which we have successfully implemented.

Since doing so, Sarsen Stone Group has seen a major upturn in completed transactions online. Customers now have the choice of paying by card, PayPal or Google Pay. We are also working towards implementing Apple Pay on the website. As a result, the site now delivers the functionality expected by today’s audiences.

We continue to utilise the latest solutions to optimise each of Sarsen Stone Group’s brands, bringing measurable growth and supporting their mission to be a leading stone and tile company.
